Lights up reasonably well but really is just a hollow foam cylinder with a string of fibre optic cable inside it. Lots of other options (like the pirate sword) which they loved much more and would last much longer. If didn't need longevity and chances were they were going to hit each other over the head with whatever they got, probably a good option for kids to run amok with.
